Stocks in the news: SBI, Hero MotoCorp, Apollo Tyres, PVR and Infibeam

Nifty futures trading on the Singapore Exchange were down 5.50 points — or 0.04 per cent — at 14,861.50, at 7:45 pm, in signs of a muted start for Dalal Street on Thursday. Here are a few stocks which may buzz the most in today’s trade:

Q3 earnings: Hero MotoCorp, Hindustan Petroleum, Ipca Labs, NTPC, REC, SBI, Tata Power, Trend, Whirlpool of India, Zee Entertainment and Godrej Properties will report their financial results for the October-December period on Thursday. Other companies that will post their earnings on the same day include Brigade Enterprises, Godfrey Phillips, Icra, Suzlon, Thomas Cook, Container Corp, Dalmia Bharat, Gillette, Godrej Agrovet, Honeywell Auto, Arvind, Bajaj Electricals and Kalpataru Power.

Future Group shares: Market regulator Sebi on Wednesday barred Future Group Chief Executive Kishore Biyani and his brother Anil from accessing the securities market for a year after investigating insider trading in shares of its retail firm Future Retail in 2017. Kishore Biyani is separately fighting a legal challenge from Amazon.com Inc over the sale of Future’s retail assets.

Bharti Airtel: The telecom major posted a net profit of Rs 854 crore for the October-December period, following six straight quarters of losses. The telecom giant’s return to the black was on the back of a one-time gain related to the merger of Bharti Infratel and Indus Towers, and a strong addition of data users which led to record revenue. Revenue rose up 24.2 per cent to Rs 26,518 crore.

PVR: Societe Generali buys a 1.8 per cent stake in company through a bulk deal on the NSE on Wednesday.

Infibeam Avenues: The company’s board will meet on February 11th to consider a bonus share issue.

Hindustan Copper: The company reported a consolidated net profit of nearly Rs. 100 crore for the December quarter as against a net loss of Rs. 95.6 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Hindalco Industries: The company’s subsidiary Novelis Corporation reported a 46 per cent year-on-year rise in operating profit to $501 million. The arm’s net sales rose 19 per cent on-year to $3.2 billion.

Hero MotoCorp: The auto maker said it has set up a separate vertical to drive its new business of Harley-Davidson products and merchandise distribution in India. Global automotive expert Ravi Avalur has been appointed as the Business Unit Head of the new vertical. He will report to chairman and CEO Pawan Munjal.

Thermax: Thermax reported a 2 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 83 crore for the December quarter, mainly due to certain exceptional items. Its total income, however, rose to Rs 1,438.82 crore, from Rs 1.435.80 crore in the year-ago period.

Indian Hotels Company: The Tata group company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 133.22 crore for the quarter ended December 31, due to the continued impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Its consolidated total income declined to Rs 614.53 crore, from Rs 1,408.91 crore in the year-ago period.

Tech Mahindra: The IT major has said it sees growth in the headcount going forward, and expects 5,000 freshers to join its workforce by June. The Mahindra Group company had an employee base of over 1.21 lakh as of December 31, 2020, and the utilisation had stood at an all-time high of 87 per cent.

Ujjivan Small Finance: Ujjivan Small Finance Bank reported a net loss of Rs 279 crore for the December quarter, on high credit cost amid pandemic related stress on borrowers. The lender had posted a net profit of Rs 90 crore for the corresponding period a year ago.

Adani Group shares: Adani Green Energy reported a 33 times jump in net profit to Rs 285 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year, on the back of increased solar capacity and generation, and the parent group’s partnership with French energy giant Total. Its total revenue increased 63 per cent to Rs 843 crore. Adani Power and Adani Transmission will report their Q3 earnings on Thursday.

Inox Leisure reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 102.50 crore for the quarter ended December 31. It had posted a profit of Rs 35.01 crore for the corresponding period a year ago. Its total income reduced to Rs 21.51 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year, from Rs 517.76 crore in the year-ago period.

City Union Bank posted a drop of 11.7 per cent in net profit to Rs 169.93 crore for the quarter ended December 31. The lender’s total income, however, moved up to Rs 1,277.80 crore, from Rs 1,203.24 crore in the year-ago period.

Apollo Tyres: The company reported a more than two-fold increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 444 crore for the October-December period on the back of robust sales across domestic and international markets. Its sales grew 14 per cent to Rs 4,965 crore.

Security and Intelligence Services (SIS): The company reported a 26.5 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 99 crore for the third quarter of the current financial year. Its revenue increased 8.2 per cent to Rs 2,357.5 crore.

Solara Active Pharma Sciences: The company announced the acquisition of an incremental stake of 10.77% in Sequent Penems Private Limited, a subsidiary.

Bandhan Bank: The lender said Sudhin Choksey, Head of the Housing Finance vertical, would be retiring with effect from February 15, 2021. Suresh Iyer, currently Head of Operations (Housing Finance), will succeed Choksey as the Head- Housing Finance.
