rate sensitive stocks: Realty, bank stocks up after RBI maintains status-quo on rates

NEW DELHI: Rate sensitive stocks in sectors such as realty, banks were trading higher as the six-member monetary policy committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India, headed by Governor Shaktikanta Das, on Friday maintained status quo on the policy rates in its last bi-monthly meeting of the current financial year.

The central bank retained the repo rate at their record low of 4 per cent and the reverse repo rate at 3.35 per cent. All six members of the Monetary Policy Committee voted to leave the policy rate unchanged including the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

The Nifty Realty index was trading 1.37 per cent up at 343.65 while the Nifty Bank index was trading 2.93 per cent higher at 36,380.15 around 10:10 AM.

Meanwhile, the Nifty Auto index was trading 1.45 per cent down at 10709.65 around the same time.

Shares of State Bank of India (up 13.55 per cent) , Bank of Baroda (up 4.57 per cent) , Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 3.46 per cent) , Punjab National Bank (up 2.47 per cent) , IndusInd Bank (up 2.11 per cent) , RBL BANK (up 2.04 per cent) , Axis Bank (up 2.02 per cent) , HDFC Bank (up 1.36 per cent) , IDFC BANK (up 0.82 per cent) and ICICI Bank (up 0.08 per cent) were among the top gainers in the banking pack.

Federal Bank (down 0.64 per cent) and Bandhan Bank (down 0.46 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

Shares of Godrej Properties (up 5.4 per cent) , Brigade Enterprises (up 1.34 per cent) , Oberoi Realty (up 0.93 per cent) , DLF (up 0.39 per cent) , Sunteck Realty (up 0.34 per cent) , SOBHA (up 0.28 per cent) and Phoenix Mills (up 0.22 per cent) were trading with gains in the realty pack.

Indiabulls Real Estate (down 0.36 per cent) and Prestige Estates Projects (down 0.34 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

Shares of Tata Motors (down 2.73 per cent) , Mahindra & Mahindra (down 2.32 per cent) , Balkrishna Industries (down 2.15 per cent) , TVS Motor Company (down 1.79 per cent) , Ashok Leyland (down 1.36 per cent) , Maruti Suzuki (down 1.33 per cent) , Amara Raja Batteries (down 1.32 per cent) , Eicher Motors (down 1.18 per cent) , Bajaj Auto (down 1.17 per cent) , Hero MotoCorp (down 0.91 per cent) , Bharat Forge (down 0.74 per cent) , Bosch (down 0.64 per cent) , Motherson Sumi Systems (down 0.32 per cent) and MRF (down 0.12 per cent) were trading with losses in the auto pack.

While shares of Exide Industries (up 0.39 per cent) was the top gainer in the index.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 84.35 points at 14980, while the BSE Sensex was up 370.41 points at 50984.7.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.

Shares of PNB, YES Bank, SBI, Vodafone Idea, Bank of Baroda, Tata Power, Tata Motors, BHEL, Canara Bank and Indian Railway Finance Corporation were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of SBI, Bajaj Electricals, Indian Bank, PNC Infratech, TeamLease Service, Hind Copper, Intellect Design, Minda Industries, Graphite India and IndiaMART hit their fresh 52-week high in today’s trade.
