FMCG stocks: Stock market update: FMCG stocks slip; Nestle sheds nearly 3%

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks were trading on a negative note at 01:54PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Nestle India (down 2.69 per cent), Emami (down 1.47 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (down 1.38 per cent), P & G Hygiene (down 1.29 per cent) and United Spirits (down 0.81 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While VBL (up 4.76 per cent), Marico (up 1.09 per cent), Colgate Palmolive (India) (up 0.69 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (up 0.24 per cent) and Tata Consumer Products (up 0.1 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.79 per cent down at 33459.2 around 01:54PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 94.20 points at 15219.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 348.54 points at 51755.63.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Shares of PNB, Vodafone Idea, Central Bank of India, and Bank of India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Bank of Maharashtra, IOB, Bank of India, Happiest Minds and Dr Lal Pathlabs hit their fresh 52 week high in today’s trade, while Vera Synthetic Ltd., Jiya Eco Products Ltd., Sanwaria Consumer Ltd., We Win Ltd. and Shri Ram Switchgears Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
