Silver futures rise nearly 1% on spot demand

NEW DELHI: Silver prices rose Rs 526 to Rs 66,378 per kg in futures trade on Tuesday as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for May delivery gained Rs 526, or 0.8 per cent, to Rs 66,378 per kg in 12,232 lots.

Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mostly due to fresh positions built by participants on a positive domestic trend.

Globally, silver was trading 1.25 per cent higher at USD 25.59 per ounce in New York.
