The scope and attractiveness of alternative investments is increasing. Here’s a weekly tracker of returns from such investments. But don’t compare these with returns from traditional investments since the proportion and purpose of alternative investments is vastly different.
Gold (995) (Rs)
With no major events, gold remained lacklustre and closed the week flat.
Silver (Rs)
Silver also remained almost flat due to lack of new triggers for the bullion.
($/troy ounce)
Platinum continued to outperform gold and surged by 5% during the past week. Shortages due to pandemic, supply and demand down by 20% and 7% respectively in 2020 were the main reasons behind this.
WTI Crude ($/barrel)
Crude oil jumped up by 5% after the Opec+ alliance decided to increase production only gradually in coming months.
