Let us take a quick glance at what happened on the Dalal Street today.
A fag-end selling on Friday cut most of the gains benchmark indices made earlier in the day. However, Nifty50 managed to close above 14,600 level, while the BSE Sensex settled above 48,800, gaining just 28 points for the day. Four stocks ended higher for every three that fell for the day. A healthy 156 stocks hit fresh 52-week highs, while another 255 hit their upper circuit limits. Asian Paints climbed 3 per cent, while UltraTech Cement, ONGC, M&M and Sun Pharma gained 2 per cent each. Wipro, HCL Tech and TechM advanced up to 8 per cent, but IT majors Infosys and TCS ended lower. ICICI Bank, SBI, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC Bank fell up to 2 per cent. Index heavyweight Reliance Industries also fell half-a-per cent.
