Shares of Varun Beverages (down 3.66 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (down 2.91 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (down 1.94 per cent), Tata Consumer Products (down 1.93 per cent) and Nestle India (down 1.73 per cent) were the top losers in the index.
While ITC (up 1.11 per cent), Marico (up 0.9 per cent), Britannia Industries (up 0.65 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (up 0.52 per cent) and P & G Hygiene (up 0.04 per cent) were among the top gainers.
The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.72 per cent down at 34050.0 around 02:33PM.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 85.40 points at 14381.8, while the BSE Sensex was up 283.17 points at 47988.97.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.
