Reliance General Insurance introduces 5% special discount on Reliance Health Infinity Product to encourage covid vaccination

Good health today is the most desirable thing after money. People across all ages have eventually realized the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and adequate health cover. Despite the massive change in priorities brought about by the pandemic, medical inflation remains the other side of the coin.

Hospitalisation costs in India are rising at a higher rate than price inflation. Treatment and hospitalisation for Covid-19 in private hospitals can easily burn a hole in your pocket with costs hovering around Rs 34,000 – Rs 43,000 for ICU without a ventilator and Rs 44,000 – Rs 54,000 for ICU with a ventilator. These treatment costs exclude charges incurred on PPE, which further inflate the medical bills, making health insurance indispensable.

With infection numbers showing some signs of decline, it’s time all individuals come together to fight against further spread of the deadly virus with the best possible weapon: vaccination.

India accounts for over 24 million Covid-19 cases in the world and has recently covered 10 percent of its population with the first dose. But to be able to make this a successful drive, vaccination has to be done on war footing. Even as state governments and the centre are doing their bit to create awareness about vaccines, one of country’s largest private general insurers, Reliance General Insurance (RGI) has come forward and launched a unique initiative to encourage and appreciate everyone to get vaccinated.

In an industry-first move, RGI has decided to further ease the financial burden of consumers who are in the process of either buying or renewing their existing Reliance Health Infinity Insurance plan, by offering an additional one-time 5 percent discount on premiums for customers who have taken their Covid-19 vaccination.

Anyone who’s taken just the first dose of the vaccine will also be eligible to avail the benefit. This move is expected to motivate more individuals, especially the youth, to get vaccinated, boosting India’s pledge against the pandemic.

Talking about the initiative, Rakesh Jain, CEO, Reliance General Insurance said, “We want to thank IRDAI for their special approval to Covid Vaccine discount in our Reliance Health Infinity health insurance product amidst a time where everyone needs to come together and collectively combat the impact of the virus. While we have always encouraged individuals to insure themselves against a medical emergency, this time we want to do more. By the means of this incentive, we want to encourage individuals to prioritize their health at this critical hour and get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.”

Life threatening diseases like Covid and complications arising out of it have necessitated cashless healthcare in current times. However, a substantial number of salaried individuals rely mainly on employer-provided group insurance policies. These group health insurance plans come with limited coverage and might not be fit for certain illnesses or severe health conditions.

Reliance Health Infinity Insurance plan takes care of all your health emergencies and gives you the option of additional insurance cover for a longer tenure. For instance, if your Reliance Health Infinity health insurance policy offers a Rs 10 lakh cover, you get Rs 3 lakh cover in addition, making it a total of Rs 13 lakh health cover. If you pick a standard Health Infinity policy of one year, you can get one month in addition to your existing tenure. Similarly, if you choose a 2-year policy, you add 2 more months to the tenure.

The Reliance Health Infinity Insurance plan also comes with added benefits like no sub-limits on road ambulance charges and hospital room rent, no cutoffs on organ donor expenses and daycare treatment charges. The plan also covers pre and post-hospitalization expenses for 270 days – highest in the industry.

Hospitalisation resulting from Covid-19 and the skyrocketing medical cost in private hospitals is likely to drive consumers to buy independent health insurance. With this initiative, RGI aims to encourage people to get vaccinated and buy health insurance at a discount.

You can also avail discount on choice of voluntary co-payment under the Reliance Health Infinity health Insurance plan. In case you opt for a longer term like 2 or 3 years, there is an additional 10 percent discount on the premium. The additional one time discount of 5 percent is over and above the other discounts applicable at the time of buying the policy, making the premium extremely affordable.
