dabur india: Dabur to drop paper pkg for toothpastes

New Delhi: Homegrown FMCG major Dabur has become the first company to do away with paper cartons for toothpastes as the clamour for sustainable living grows louder among consumers.
is moving towards removing outer paper cartons from its flagship toothpaste brand Dabur Red Paste and the pilot is being rolled out in key modern trade outlets in a joint initiative with Reliance Retail. In addition, Dabur is also rolling out a carton-free low unit price (LUP) pack for rural India. Dabur’s move follows in the footsteps of companies such as Unilever, which introduced similar practices such as removing plastic layers from Dove soap boxes and cutting down on single-use plastic in Ponds talc packaging.

“This pilot initiative has been rolled out in response to this consumer feedback,” said Rajeev John, VP (marketing – personal care) at Dabur. This move is expected to result in an annual saving of 150 tonnes of paper.
