The S&P BSE Sensex index rose as much as 44 points to touch 52,923.75 in the first few minutes of trade, and the broader NSE Nifty50 benchmark climbed to as high as 15,857.30, up 23 points from its previous close.

Equities in other Asian markets were mixed in early trade. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was down by 0.08 per cent.

Meanwhile, in the oil market, crude prices was steady near $77 a barrel after OPEC+ ended days of talks without a deal to bring back more halted output next month. Brent crude was up 7 cents, or 0.1%, at $77.23 a barrel, after gaining 1.3% on Monday. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were at $76.38 a barrel, up $1.22, or 1.6%, from Friday’s close.
