The S&P BSE Sensex index rose as much as 344 points to touch 52,716.83 in the first few minutes of trade, and the broader NSE Nifty 50 benchmark climbed to as high as 15,796.25, up 104 points from its previous close.
was the top Nifty50 gainer in early deals, up 1.3 per cent. Bajaj Finance, Eicher Motor, Hindalco and HDFC were among other blue-chip top performers.
On the other hand, Adani Ports was the top laggard, down 0.6 per cent. Tech Mahindra, Divi’s Lab, HCL Tech and Infosys were among other losers.
Ashoka Buildcon rose 4 per cent, while
gained 3 per cent in early trade.
Equities in other Asian markets were trading higher. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was up by 0.52 per cent.
Overnight on Wall Street, the three benchmark indices settled at record highs. Dow Jones added 0.36% to 34,996.18, while S&P 500 gained 0.35% to 4,384.63. Nasdaq climbed 0.21% to 14,733.24
Meanwhile, in the oil market, crude prices were up on hopes of fall in US crude stocks. Brent futures climbed 25 cents, or 0.3%, to $75.41 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate crude for August was at $74.33 a barrel, up 23 cents, or 0.3%.
