HCL Technologies (up 3.99 per cent), Wipro (up 3.09 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech (up 3.07 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 2.64 per cent) and Mindtree (up 0.78 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Tata Consultancy (down 0.23 per cent), Coforge (down 0.15 per cent), MPhasis (down 0.08 per cent) and Oracle Financial Services Software (down 0.02 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty IT index was up 1.1 per cent at 29663.5 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 66.3 points at 15920.25, while the BSE Sensex was up 252.88 points at 53156.93.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.
