Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 0.8 points down at 15923.4 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Walpar Nutritions Ltd. and Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 24 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 26 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Divis Labs, Bharti Airtel, UltraTech Cem., Tata Steel and Power Grid were among top gainers during the day, while HCL Tech, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Finserv, Adani Ports SEZ and Infosys ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 18.79 points down at 53140.06.
Traders piled up positions in IT Enabled Services, Diversified, Learning & Education, Beverages – Alcoholic and Metals – Ferrous sectors, while selling was witnessed in Plastics, Gems and Jewellery, Chemicals, Industrial Consumables and IT – Hardware sectors during the day.
