Wall Street’s main indexes opened higher on Friday, helped by megacap technology stocks and strong earnings from social media companies Twitter and Snap, with investors eyeing business activity data later in the day.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 177.69 points, or 0.51 per cent to 35,001.04. The S&P 500 rose 18.68 points, or 0.43 per cent to 4,386.16, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 52.21 points, or 0.36 per cent to 14,736.81.
