The S&P BSE Sensex index rose as much as 131 points to touch 52,967.87 in the first few minutes of trade, and the broader NSE Nifty50 benchmark climbed to as high as 15,863, up 39 points from its previous close.
was the top Nifty50 gainer in early deals, up 1.7 per cent. Titan, HCL Tech, Tata Steel and were among other blue-chip top performers.
On the other hand, Tata Motors was the top laggard, down 0.7 per cent. ICICI Bank, , and L&T were among other losers.
Equities in other Asian markets were trading mixed. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was down 0.15 per cent.
Overnight on Wall Street, the three benchmark indices settled higher. Dow Jones gained 0.07% to 34,823.35, while S&P 500 added 0.20% to 4,367.48. Nasdaq rose 0.36% to 14,684.60.95
Meanwhile, in the oil market, crude prices lsipped with Brent futures down 7 cents, or 0.1%, to $73.72 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 8 cents, or 0.1%, to $71.83 a barrel, following a 2.3% gain on Thursday.
