NEW DELHI: Several stocks plunged in excess of 5 per cent in Mumbai trading on Tuesday even as equity benchmark BSE Sensex traded 141.68 points up at 52993.95 amid brisk buying in frontline bluechip counters.
On the BSE, Jointeca Edu (down 19.95 per cent), Sreeleather (down 10.47 per cent), Orient Bell (down 10.23 per cent), JLAInfraville&Shop (down 10.00 per cent) and Stellar Capital Svcs (down 9.57 per cent) were among the stocks that plunged over 5 per cent during the session.
In the Nifty pack, 31 stocks traded in the green, while 19 stocks traded in the red.
The Nifty index was trading 50.75 points up at 15875.2.
On the BSE, JLAInfraville&Shop, Alembic Pharma, PVP Ventures Ltd., Premier Capital Services Ltd. and Oceanaa Biotek hit their fresh 52-week lows, while Pondy Oxides, Poona Dal Oil, Bambino Agro, Alpine Housing and Shreyans Ind touched their fresh 52-week highs.
