Eicher Motors (down 1.26 per cent), Tata Motors (down 1.22 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (down 1.03 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (down 0.91 per cent) and Ashok Leyland (down 0.9 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.74 per cent at 10019.85 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 102.55 points at 15643.9, while the BSE Sensex was down 341.74 points at 52237.02.
