Thierry Delaporte, MD and CEO at Wipro, told ET that he sees “significant potential” for growth in the US healthcare industry and is continuing to invest in growing its business in the sector. He added that healthcare was already among the best performing sectors for the company in the first quarter of the current fiscal.
“When we saw the sequence of events in November 2020, we were very aware of the potential opportunities for us in that space. Going forward, we are actively trying to position ourselves and make sure that we get a fair share of the pie,” Delaporte said in an interaction with ET.
Healthcare contributed 11.9% of Wipro’s revenues in the first quarter of the current fiscal, its fourth largest sector in terms of revenue contribution after BFSI, retail, energy and technology.
Moreover, Wipro’s revenues from the healthcare sector grew by 8.9% year-on-year in constant currency terms during the quarter.
“Healthcare has seen one of the best performances in this quarter in sales, and in particular in America. So, I think it’s fair to assume that we will continue to invest in this sector and we will continue to grow well in this sector,” Delaporte added.
