Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 69.05 points up at 15778.45 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Madhav Copper, Walpar Nutritions Ltd., We Win, Bright Solar and Alembic Pharma, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 22 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 28 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Hindalco, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, SBI and JSW Steel were among top gainers during the day, while Maruti Suzuki, Power Grid, ITC, Bajaj Auto and Coal India Ltd ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 209.36 points up at 52653.07.
Traders piled up positions in Metals – Ferrous, Metals – Non Ferrous, Diversified, Sugar and Learning & Education sectors, while selling was witnessed in Petrochemicals, Power, Miscellaneous, Tobacco and Tea / Coffee sectors during the day.
