The 30-share pack Sensex advanced 209.36 points or 0.40 per cent to close at 52,653.07. Its broader peer NSE Nifty rose 69.05 points or 0.44 per cent to 15,778.45. BSE midcap and smallcap index gained up to a per cent.
Tatva Chintan Pharma Chem doubled investors wealth on debut. Metal, retail chains and paper stocks, too, remained under the spotlight. Investors junked the poor performers of June 2021 quarter.

TOP GAINERS OF THE DAY
Tatva Chintan Pharma Chem: As expected, the latest debutant of Dalal Street surged 113 per cent to Rs 2,310.25. It got listed at a hefty premium of 95 per cent and further surged 9 per cent during the session.
Paper stocks: Shares of paper companies were abuzz on the back of sharp up move in prices of raw materials and opening up of the economy, pushing the demand higher. NR Agarwal Industries surged 20 per cent to Rs 301.70. , Nath Industries and added 6 per cent each.
Swan Energy: The textile player gained as technical indicators supported the counter. The scrip ended at Rs 175.55, up 20 per cent. Textile stocks have been on the radar of investors lately.
V-Mart Retail: The retail stores’ stock were much in demand after brokerages upgraded the target of the company following strong management commentary. The scrip gained 15 per cent to Rs 3,900.
Metal stocks: The metal counters were among the top gainers amid earnings announcements and improved business outlook for the sector. Hindalco advanced 10 per cent to Rs 458.25. National Aluminium, Vedanta, Tata Steel and SAIL added 6-8 per cent each.

Ramco System: The IT solution provider tanked 12 per cent to Rs 549.65 as it reported a net loss of Rs 6.15 crore in the quarter ended on June 30, 2021. It had reported a net profit of Rs 8.77 crore in the year-ago quarter.
HSIL: The containers and packaging counter shed 8 per cent to Rs 252.25 after it posted a poor set of numbers in June 2021 quarter on a sequential basis. The company reported a 65 per cent fall in net profit to Rs 11.26 crore in June 2021 quarter from Rs 33.02 crore in March 2021 quarter.
Geojit Financial Services: The brokerage firm plunged 6 per cent to Rs 87.4 after three-fourth of its profits were wiped off in June 2021 quarter on a q-o-q basis. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 126.51 crore in March 2021 quarter, which slipped to 38.39 crore in June 2021 quarter.
PC Jewellers: Beleaguered jewellery maker declined 6 per cent to Rs 24. The company informed the bourses that SBI and all of the company’s consortium lenders, barring three, have signed an Inter Creditor Agreement (ICA) and as a part of the laid down procedure has also commenced the formalities of appointing a forensic auditor.
Alkyl Amines Chemicals: The speciality chemical scrip fell 5 per cent to Rs 4,283.50 as BSE sought clarification from the company with reference to significant movement in price to safeguard the interest of the investors.
