Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 128.05 points up at 16258.8 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Vodafone Idea, Inventure Grwth, Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd., AKG Exim Ltd. and Radaan Media, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 20 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 30 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, HDFC, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI and HDFC Bank were among top gainers during the day, while Grasim Inds., Titan Company, Tata Motors, Adani Ports SEZ and Hindalco ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 546.41 points up at 54369.77.
Traders piled up positions in Diversified, Metals – Ferrous, Banks, NBFC and Agro Processing sectors, while selling was witnessed in Petrochemicals, Power, Miscellaneous, Sugar and Cables sectors during the day.
