Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 1.18 per cent) and HDFC Bank (up 0.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.
IDFCBANK (down 5.63 per cent), IndusInd Bank (down 2.95 per cent), State Bank of India (down 2.65 per cent), RBLBANK (down 2.55 per cent) and Punjab National Bank (down 2.28 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Bank index was down 0.95 per cent at 35686.25 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 25.6 points at 16233.2, while the BSE Sensex was down 86.72 points at 54283.05.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.
