Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 35.8 points up at 16294.6 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd., SKS Textiles, Transwind Infrastruc, Silgo Retail and Keerti Knowledge, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 24 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 26 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bharti Airtel, Eicher Motors, ITC, Tech Mahindra and Tata Steel were among top gainers during the day, while SBI, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finserv ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 123.07 points up at 54492.84.
Traders piled up positions in Diversified, Metals – Ferrous, Tobacco, Telecommunications and Paper sectors, while selling was witnessed in Petrochemicals, Power, Irrigation & Allied Services, Industrial Consumables and Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock sectors during the day.
