Shares of Alkem Laboratories (up 2.13 per cent), Lupin (up 0.48 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals (up 0.24 per cent), Cadila Healthcare (up 0.21 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories (up 0.08 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Cipla (down 3.61 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (down 0.75 per cent), Divis Laboratories (down 0.15 per cent), Biocon (down 0.14 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 0.12 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.43 per cent down at 14517.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 56.4 points at 16238.2, while the BSE Sensex stood down 215.12 points at 54277.72.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, GAIL, PNB and IDFC First Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of PVP Ventures Ltd., Accuracy Shipping, BASF India, Venus Remedies and Gujarat Sidhee hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Viceroy Hotels, Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd. and AKG Exim Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
