The week gone by was special. First, it was the benchmark stock indices that broke above their consolidation zones to hit back-to-back fresh highs. Then, there were a few quarterly numbers that took Street by surprise. Third, it was quite a busy week for IPOs, with four issues concluding in a single day.
Investor sentiment surely is bullish. But will it stay like that?
We caught up with Yogesh Patil, Head of Equities at LIC Mutual Fund to understand signals that primary and secondary markets are sending to investors. Patil said he is bullish on India’s growth story and listed out a couple of sectors he thinks can outperform the market going ahead.
Welcome to the show, sir:
> Is it true that the market peaks when earnings peak? Do you see more legs to this rally?
> What’s behind the ongoing flurry of IPOs? What signal is it sending to the secondary market?
> What are your views on the initial set of Q1 earnings? How has the commentary been so far? Do you see Covid pain extending to coming quarters?
> What are the key sectoral themes you are betting on? Any particular sector that you think may see a period of outperformance?
> Should investors really be worried over Fed tapering? What do the past experiences suggest about such Fed moves and their impact on emerging markets like ours?
> So are you positive about the India story?
Thank you, Mr Patil, that was indeed a very insightful conversation.
