HCL Technologies (up 0.75 per cent), Tata Consultancy (up 0.48 per cent), Infosys (up 0.08 per cent) and Wipro (up 0.05 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Oracle Financial Services Software (down 2.08 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech (down 1.44 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 0.73 per cent), Coforge (down 0.49 per cent) and Mindtree (down 0.45 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty IT index was down 0.04 per cent at 31701.15 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 73.85 points at 16206.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 247.63 points at 54307.03.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.
