Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 2.15 points down at 16282.25 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Shrenik, AKG Exim Ltd., Future Market, Network People Services Technologies Ltd. and Chaman Lal Setia, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 24 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 26 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Indian Oil Corp., NTPC and Hindalco were among top gainers during the day, while Shree Cements, Bajaj Auto, Kotak Bank, Sun Pharma and ICICI Bank ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 28.73 points down at 54525.93.
Traders piled up positions in Metals – Ferrous, Diversified, Metals – Non Ferrous, General and Sugar sectors, while selling was witnessed in Petrochemicals, Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock, Power, Aquaculture and Tea / Coffee sectors during the day.
