Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.38 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.25 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 1.15 per cent), MRF (up 0.94 per cent) and Bosch (up 0.78 per cent) were among the top gainers.
TIINDIA (down 0.8 per cent) and Eicher Motors (down 0.49 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.7 per cent at 10211.2 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 46.75 points at 16329.0, while the BSE Sensex was up 172.66 points at 54698.59.
