Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 164.7 points up at 16529.1 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Chaman Lal Setia, Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd., Future Market, Gulf Oil India and YES Bank, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 33 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 17 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Consumer, TCS, L&T, Bharti Airtel and HCL Tech were among top gainers during the day, while Eicher Motors, Dr. Reddys, Power Grid, Cipla and Britannia ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 593.31 points up at 55437.29.
Traders piled up positions in Diversified, IT – Hardware, Miscellaneous, Metals – Ferrous and Construction sectors, while selling was witnessed in Petrochemicals, Power, Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock, Cables and Sugar sectors during the day.
