Shares of Eicher Motors (up 0.46 per cent), TIINDIA (up 0.29 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki (up 0.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bharat Forge (down 6.23 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 4.91 per cent), Tata Motors (down 3.49 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 2.76 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (down 2.39 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.62 per cent down at 9904.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 118.35 points at 16450.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 300.17 points at 55329.32.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, Zomato Ltd. and IDFC First Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Nakoda Group Of Ind, HUL, Nelco Ltd, KKV Agro Powers Ltd. and Meghmani Finechem Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Ujjivan SFB, Ujjivan Financial, Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd., CarTrade Tech Ltd. and Aurobindo Pharma hit their fresh 52-week lows.
