Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 40.55 points to 16537.0 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Nxtdigital, KPI Global Infra, Madhav Copper, Marine Electricals and Future Market, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 28 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 22 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Hindalco, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra and Indian Oil Corp. were among top gainers, while Britannia, Nestle India, Tata Motors, Asian Paints and Kotak Bank traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 135.38 points up at 55691.17 at 10:45AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Diversified, Metals – Ferrous, Cables, Gas & Petroleum and Mining sectors, while selling was visible in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Power, Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock and Miscellaneous sectors.
