Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 128.15 points up at 16624.6 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Vertoz Advertising, Grand Foundry, Nxtdigital, Marine Electricals and Pritika Auto Ind, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 35 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 15 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bajaj Finserv, Adani Ports SEZ, Hindalco, Tata Steel and Bajaj Finance were among top gainers during the day, while Britannia, Nestle India, HDFC, Infosys and Asian Paints ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 403.19 points up at 55958.98.
Traders piled up positions in Tea / Coffee, Cables, Diversified, Metals – Ferrous and Paper sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Power, FMCG and Beverages – Alcoholic sectors during the day.
