Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 10.05 points down at 16634.65 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Transwind Infrastruc, IMP Powers Ltd, Grand Foundry, CarTrade Tech Ltd. and AmaraRaja Batteries, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 21 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 29 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Adani Ports SEZ, HDFC Life, Hindalco, ONGC and Coal India Ltd were among top gainers during the day, while Bajaj Finserv, Titan Company, Maruti Suzuki, Bharti Airtel and JSW Steel ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 14.77 points down at 55944.21.
Traders piled up positions in Aquaculture, Trading, Diversified, Learning & Education and Shipping sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Gems and Jewellery, Power and IT Enabled Services sectors during the day.
