Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.21 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (up 0.05 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, TIINDIA (down 2.03 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 1.94 per cent), Bosch (down 1.57 per cent), Exide Industries (down 1.56 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki (down 1.53 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.46 per cent down at 9763.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 2.25 points at 16636.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 4.89 points at 55949.1.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.
