Shares of Alkem Laboratories (up 1.2 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma (up 0.34 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Biocon (down 1.77 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 1.11 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories (down 1.0 per cent), Cadila Healthcare (down 0.44 per cent) and Lupin (down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.52 per cent down at 13758.6.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 2.25 points at 16636.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 4.89 points at 55949.1.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.
