On the other hand, MPhasis (down 2.2 per cent), Tata Consultancy (down 1.89 per cent), Infosys (down 1.68 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 1.49 per cent) and Oracle Financial Services Software (down 0.98 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 1.33 per cent down at 34110.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 55.95 points at 17076.25, while the BSE Sensex stood down 214.18 points at 57338.21.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
