Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 67.9 points to 17200.1 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Rex Pipes and Cables Industries Ltd., Network People Services Technologies Ltd. and Inventure Grwth, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 26 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 24 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Axis Bank, Asian Paints, IndusInd Bank, Eicher Motors and ICICI Bank were among top gainers, while Tata Steel, M&M, Tata Consumer, Infosys and Bharti Airtel traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 281.77 points up at 57834.16 at 10:14AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Diversified, Building Materials, Cables, Construction and Consumer Durables sectors, while selling was visible in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Power, Miscellaneous and Tea / Coffee sectors.
