Cipla (up 0.6 per cent), Alkem Laboratories (up 0.33 per cent), Lupin (up 0.25 per cent), Divis Laboratories (up 0.19 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (up 0.06 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Aurobindo Pharma (down 1.18 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals (down 0.88 per cent), Biocon (down 0.4 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories (down 0.38 per cent) and Cadila Healthcare (down 0.19 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Pharma index was down 0.03 per cent at 14481.05 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 81.75 points at 17405.35, while the BSE Sensex was up 326.12 points at 58456.07.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Shares of Ebixcash World Money, S P Apparels, Rex Pipes and Cables Industries Ltd., Zen Tech and Nakoda Group Of Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Nandani Creation, Jiya Eco Products Lt, Autolite India, Walpar Nutritions Ltd. and Yuken India hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
