Cipla (up 0.24 per cent) and Lupin (up 0.19 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Biocon (down 1.3 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 1.09 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (down 1.09 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories (down 0.84 per cent) and Cadila Healthcare (down 0.66 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Pharma index was down 0.58 per cent at 14398.25 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 51.65 points at 17326.15, while the BSE Sensex was down 182.96 points at 58113.95.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.

Shares of Rex Pipes and Cables Industries Ltd., Zen Tech, VST Tiller Trac, Mahindra Holiday and Arvind SmartSpaces hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Ujjivan Financial, Nandani Creation, Jalan Transolutions, Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd. and PVP Ventures Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
