Maruti Suzuki (up 0.54 per cent) and Bosch (up 0.37 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Balkrishna Industries (down 1.47 per cent), TIINDIA (down 1.45 per cent), Eicher Motors (down 1.26 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 1.2 per cent) and Bharat Forge (down 1.01 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.54 per cent at 10058.05 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 75.65 points at 17293.6, while the BSE Sensex was down 241.78 points at 58063.29.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.
