Prestige Estates Projects (up 1.32 per cent), Godrej Properties (up 0.28 per cent), Hemisphere Properties India (up 0.11 per cent) and DLF (up 0.09 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Oberoi Realty (down 1.87 per cent), Indiabulls Real Estate (down 1.7 per cent), SOBHA (down 1.51 per cent), Phoenix Mills (down 1.31 per cent) and Sunteck Realty (down 1.08 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Realty index was down 0.36 per cent at 416.1 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 61.25 points at 17308.0, while the BSE Sensex was down 179.27 points at 58125.8.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.
