Exide Industries (down 0.3 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.71 per cent at 10192.15 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 57.6 points at 17412.9, while the BSE Sensex was up 183.32 points at 58361.08.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 9 were in the red.
