Shares of Aurobindo Pharma (up 1.62 per cent), Cadila Healthcare (up 0.95 per cent), Biocon (up 0.59 per cent), Cipla (up 0.28 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals (up 0.23 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Alkem Laboratories (down 0.46 per cent), Lupin (down 0.15 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories (down 0.01 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.24 per cent up at 14410.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 24.7 points at 17380.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 69.33 points at 58247.09.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.
