Shares of State Bank of India (up 2.51 per cent), Punjab National Bank (up 2.51 per cent), Bandhan Bank (up 2.39 per cent), RBLBANK (up 2.31 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (up 1.67 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Axis Bank (down 0.38 per cent) and HDFC Bank (down 0.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.65 per cent up at 36852.25.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 139.45 points at 17519.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 476.11 points at 58723.2.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zee Ent., Tata Power and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Ami Organics Ltd., CESC Ventures, Zensar Tech, Sandhar Tech and Shivalik Bimetal hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Vertoz Advertising, Inventure Grwth, PVP Ventures Ltd. and Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
