Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 139.45 points up at 17519.45 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Vertoz Advertising, Inventure Grwth, PVP Ventures Ltd. and Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 35 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 15 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Coal India Ltd, ONGC and Titan Company were among top gainers during the day, while Tata Consumer, BPCL, Nestle India, UltraTech Cem. and Axis Bank ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 476.11 points up at 58723.20.
Traders piled up positions in Diversified, Telecommunications, Infrastructure, Mining and Gems and Jewellery sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Power, Industrial Consumables and Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock sectors during the day.
