Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 5.3 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 1.42 per cent) and Axis Bank (up 0.59 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Punjab National Bank (down 4.9 per cent), IDFCBANK (down 3.53 per cent), Bandhan Bank (down 3.49 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank (down 3.19 per cent) and Federal Bank (down 3.03 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.38 per cent up at 37811.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 44.35 points at 17585.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 134.33 points at 59006.83.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, ITC and Zee Ent. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Bodhi Tree Multimed, Surya Roshni, RPP Infra Proj, Thirumalai Chem and TPL Plastech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Ganesh Benzo, Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd., Shanti Overseas (Ind, Krsnaa Diagnostics Ltd. and Intnl Conveyors hit their fresh 52-week lows.
