Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 188.25 points down at 17396.9 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Krsnaa Diagnostics Ltd., Jiya Eco Products Lt, PVP Ventures Ltd., Rajvir Ind and CarTrade Tech Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 9 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 41 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, HUL, ITC, Bajaj Finserv, HCL Tech and Britannia were among top gainers during the day, while Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Hindalco, UPL and SBI ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 524.96 points down at 58490.93.
Traders piled up positions in Glass, Diversified, Retail, Tobacco and FMCG sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Metals – Ferrous, Power and Metals – Non Ferrous sectors during the day.
