IndusInd Bank (up 1.13 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.62 per cent) and State Bank of India (up 0.17 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Punjab National Bank (down 1.44 per cent), RBLBANK (down 1.38 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 0.97 per cent), HDFC Bank (down 0.94 per cent) and Axis Bank (down 0.94 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Bank index was down 0.5 per cent at 36958.75 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 17.3 points at 17414.2, while the BSE Sensex was up 224.48 points at 58715.41.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.
