Shares of Tata Motors (up 3.68 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 3.17 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 1.12 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 0.79 per cent) and Eicher Motors (up 0.5 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries (down 1.62 per cent), Exide Industries (down 0.41 per cent) and TVS Motor Company (down 0.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.86 per cent up at 10372.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 276.3 points at 17822.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 958.03 points at 59885.36.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 ended in the green, while 11 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zee Ent., YES Bank, DLF and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of STEL Holdings, Cantabil Retail, Welspun India, Oberoi Realty and Godrej Properties hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd., Shanti Overseas (Ind and Shrem InvIT hit their fresh 52-week lows.
