Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 276.3 points up at 17822.95 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd., Shanti Overseas (Ind and Shrem InvIT, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 39 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 11 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bajaj Finserv, Hindalco, Tata Motors, L&T and Coal India Ltd were among top gainers during the day, while HDFC Life, Dr. Reddys, Nestle India, Tata Consumer and ITC ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 958.03 points up at 59885.36.
Traders piled up positions in Real Estate, Diversified, Beverages – Alcoholic, Cables and Construction sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Power, Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock and Learning & Education sectors during the day.
